This is a collection of illustrations that I did over the past year or so. A couple of them have been updated since being uploaded to my original website. These are all bookcovers and were completed in acrylic on illustration board, except for Raven which is pencil and a lot of Photoshop manipulation. That was fun too. The models are my youngest son or students from class. These were a lot of fun to complete.
The other two images are of a couple of things I did as demonstrations in my Advanced Illustrator class. The assignment was to design and create a retro-movie poster from a movie that was released between 1990 and now. It had to look like it was released some time in the first half of the 1900's. I think these are fairly successful. These were much more fun to create than I ever imagined.

Folio Academy
I am now involved with an art instructional website which provides video demonstrations and lessons on all kinds of art topics including Plein Aire painting called Folio Academy. I just recorded the video last week and this is the painting I did. It's called Plein Aire Afternoon and it is 9x12 oil on panel. It was a lot of fun to do but felt a little strange talking to myself, pretending I had an audience. I hope it turns out alright and that I don't look to goofy or sound like I don't know what I am doing. Check it out.
This painting I completed up in Midway a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I took a little weekend trip up to Park City for our anniversary and I got to paint while she read a book and fed some horses so grass. It was a great relaxing week end. My wife and I really need to get a way before we both started back to school. There was a storm coming in from the north and the light that evening was really incredible. It seems to be almost every evening in this beautiful valley. I love these north-fields.
This painting I completed for the Midway Plein-Aire competition this past July 4th. I have been competing in this competition every summer for the past five years. I look forward to it every year. While I didn't win anything it was great to get out finally and paint again. This was the first time this year that I was able to get away. Sure did feel good. There is something pretty special about being out there listening to the sounds of nature doing something that I really truly love.

Another Cover
Here is an other cover I just completed. Quite a difference form what I was doing before but I still think it came out very effective for what it was for. This is called Raven 3.
Latest Cover
Here is my latest cover. It is for a book called Undergrowth. This is acrylic on illustration board. Was a lot of fun to do. The male model is a student of mine. As soon as I saw him I knew he was perfect for the role. I'll upload an other one later.

I am moving my website over to here since I am now unable to edit my previous website since i discontinued my subscription to Mobile Me with Apple. I will be moving my images of my illustration work and my paintings slowly over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully this change will not hurt my exposure on the web. In the meantime, here is the cover of a book proposal I am working on. What a sad story but a very exciting project to be working on. I hope to have this proposal completed by the end of the summer, ready for submission to publishers.
